Among all the injury-related absentees at Real Madrid this season, Dani Carvajal’s injury has perhaps hit them the most.

The veteran defender’s absence in the right-back position has hurt Real Madrid’s stability in the backline while his alternatives have not performed all too well.

This has even forced coach Carlo Ancelotti to try his luck with Federico Valverde in the right-back position, though the Uruguayan did a fantastic job in a recent win over RB Leipzig.

Carvajal offers fitness update

Nevertheless, Dani Carvajal has recently offered a key update on his recovery process, about 110 days picking up a serious knee injury that ruled him out for the entire season.

The right-back recently posted a photo on Instagram, where he can be seen doing recovery exercises, albeit without the ball.

In the last few weeks, Carvajal has been hard at work trying to strengthen his right knee. In fact, the scar from the injury can be seen in the picture as there is no bandage covering it.

The defender posted the photo with the caption ’15 weeks’, highlighting that it’s been almost four months since he has picked up the injury.

Carvajal also received a lot of support from his teammates after posting the crucial update on his recovery.

The likes of Vinicius Jr., Thibaut Courtois, Lucas Vazquez, Luka Modric and Antonio Rudiger either commented or reacted to his post.

While there is no hope for Carvajal to return to action before the end of the season, the veteran defender is planning to return in time for the inauguaral FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held between June 15 and July 13 in the United States of America.

In the meantime, Real Madrid are celebrating the return of another veteran defender in the form of David Alaba, whose availability has solved a key concern for Los Blancos.
