Tutosport newspaper reports that Juventus have opened preliminary talks to sign 18-year-old St. Pauli midfielder Marwin Schmitz.
Serie A side Juventus have opened preliminary talks to sign German midfielder Schmitz, according to the latest report from Tuttosport newspaper in Italy.
According to the report, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Stuttgart have already shown interest in the promising central midfielder, and this is why Juventus have already made their move.
Schmitz is a versatile central midfielder who has already been compared to Bayern Munich and Germany national team star Joshua Kimmich.
A product of the St. Pauli academy, the 18-year-old hasn’t yet made his senior Bundesliga debut.
Tuttosport reports that Juventus hope to sign the promising midfielder on a low transfer fee and include him in the NextGen squad playing in Serie C, Italy’s third division.
Many other first-team players have followed a similar path in recent years, including Kenan Yildiz, Radu Dragusin, Dean Huijsen, Matias Soulé, and Enzo Barrenechea.

Juventus are currently fighting for a top-four finish, and their summer transfer budget will depend on whether they earn income from Europe’s elite competition.
Igor Tudor’s future at the Allianz Stadium is also uncertain and will only be decided after the Club World Cup.
“We’ve been clear from the beginning. The hope is to stay together, but it’s a decision we’ll take after the Club World Cup,” Giuntoli recently said.
A few players, including Randal Kolo Muani and Renato Veiga, are on loan until the end of the season, but Juventus hope to stick with them for the Club World Cup, which will be played from mid-June to mid-July.
“We are talking with their clubs, and we count on the players’ will,” Giuntoli explained.
“These decisions will be taken at the end of the season. We are talking, and we hope to find a suitable solution.”
