The stats show that Simone Inzaghi has increased the value of the Inter Milan squad by over €100 million since becoming coach.
Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia note the increase of 18.9% in the total value of all the Nerazzurri’s senior players, per Transfermarkt.
Simone Inzaghi became Inter Milan head coach in the summer of 2021. He arrived from Lazio, replacing Antonio Conte on the Nerazzurri bench.
And there have certainly been ups and downs since Inzaghi’s arrival.
The turbulent financial situation at Inter has been a key reason for this.
In Inzaghi’s first summer as Inter coach – before he had even taken charge of a single match – the Nerazzurri lost two key players.
Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku joined Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea respectively for massive transfer fees.
Meanwhile, there have been a few other notable sales at Inter since Inzaghi came in. Most notable, the big money sale of goalkeeper Andre Onana to Manchester United.
Then, Milan Skriniar joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
In total, Inter have spent €271.88 million since Inzaghi took over as coach. And they have brought in €371.67 million in transfer fees.
In Serie A, only Atalanta and Sassuolo managed larger net profits than Inter in the transfer market during the period. And none of the Nerazzurri’s big name European rivals have come close.
Despite Inter turning a profit during Inzaghi’s tenure as coach, the value of the squad has actually gone up.
Per Transfermarkt, when Inter appointed Inzaghi as coach, the total value of the squad was €573.3 million.

Now, by contrast, it has gone up to €643 million.
The reason for this – in spite of the losses of some huge names worth big money – has been the way that the value of a number of Inter’s players has gone up during the period.
Most eye-catchingly, Federico Dimarco has gone from being valued at €10 million to €60 million.
Lautaro Martinez’s value has increased from €80 million to €100 million. Nicolo Barella’s has increased from €65 million to €80 million, and Alessandro Bastoni’s from €60 million to €75 million.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi has also increased the value of two signings from his first summer in charge.
Former AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu’s value has gone up from €35 million to €40 million.
And wingback Denzel Dumfries has seen an increase from €16 million to €20 million.
There have, however, been a few players to see their value go down since Inzaghi took over.
Most notably, Joaquin Correa was worth €30 million when inter signed him. Now, the Argentine’s valuation is just €3 million.
Then, a couple of players have naturally seen their value drop off as a result of age.
Defender Stefan de Vrij has gone down from €50 million to just €7 million, per Transfermarkt. And Matteo Darmian has decreased from €7 million to €4 million.
