FC Barcelona have an important game scheduled for tonight as they face Osasuna in La Liga for the matchday 27 game that was previously postponed due to Dr. Carles Minarro’s death.
The Catalans will be playing without some of their important players, Ronald Araujo and Raphinha, but other internationals were able to report in time and will be able to participate in this game.
One such international was the striker Robert Lewandowski and Mundo Deportivo highlights that the Pole will be particularly keen to score in this game as this is an opportunity for him to get further ahead of his closest competition for the Pichichi award, Kylian Mbappe.
As things stand, the Polish veteran has 22 goals to his name in La Liga, while the Real Madrid star has 20. But Lewandowski has a game in hand over the Frenchman, which is set to be played tonight.
Furthermore, the Pole is only 1 goal away from levelling his best season tally in Barcelona colours, as he scored 23 goals, and won the Pichichi, in his first season at the Catalan club. He has already surpassed the figure of 19 goals from the last season when he lost the Pichichi to the then-Girona forward, Artem Dovbyk.
This season, Lewandowski has missed only one league game so far and is scoring at a rate of a goal every 95.7 minutes. On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe has missed two games for the Merengue team and is scoring a goal every 112.4 minutes. However, the Frenchman has 3 league assists to his name, 1 more than the Barcelona superstar’s 2.
The Polish veteran has scored in all but one of the last six league games, and although it is not yet clear if he will start tonight following the knock he had while playing for Poland, he will still look to get farther ahead of Mbappe if he gets to play against Osasuna, a team again whom he has scored only once in five games.
