Romano frustrated by disrespectful rumours: “it’s not even 5 or 6 games”

It seems like Fabrizio Romano might be getting as frustrated as some fans are by the endless transfer news cycle he’s helped to create and perpetuate.

This is usually the most dead time of year for transfers. You’re stuck exactly between the summer and the January windows, with not much debris left from the former to pick over and not much excitement about the latter yet building.

No wonder Romano – for whom transfers are everything – is a little testy.

He’s been forced to go over old ground again today in discussing Victor Osimhen, a player who he also had to write about all summer as the striker struggled to find an exit from Napoli. In the end, long rumoured Chelsea interest came to nothing, deadline day in Italy came and went, and Osimhen ended up scarpering to Turkey just as an escape route.

Everyone knows that’s not going to be his ultimate destination however, so the questions continue about whether January could see a move to Chelsea or another club in the top 5 leagues.

Romano has had enough of Osimhen chatter

Writing exclusively for CaughtOffside, Romano clearly wanted a rest from this topic for a bit.

“There have been fresh reports about Victor Osimhen’s asking price dropping to €81m for January, but I don’t have any confirmation on this and I think in general Galatasaray should be more respected on the media,” Romano wrote.

“They paid important money for Osimhen on loan, it’s not even five or six games and there are already rumours about January.”

With Nicolas Jackson doing well and Christopher Nkunku backing him up, we really can’t see Chelsea being too interested right now either. If we baulked at the cost of Osimhen in the summer, we can’t see what will have changed since then.
