Ruben Amorim makes blunt admission on Marcus Rashford's Man Utd future after Arsenal snub | OneFootball

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted he "does not know" whether Marcus Rashford will ever play for the club again.

Rashford has now not played for United in over a month after once again failing to make the matchday squad for Sunday's FA Cup victory over Arsenal, despite Amorim confirming he had overcome the illness which kept him out of the previous game against Liverpool.

Amorim has stressed that the door has not been shut on Rashford, but after the win over Arsenal, he confessed he had no idea whether the 27-year-old still has a future at Old Trafford.

"I don't know," Amorim said. "We'll see. He is a player for Manchester United. We'll see. He has to work.

"He has to represent his club and he loves his club but I have to make choices. I already spoke about how I make the choices. It is what it is. Let's continue, let's see the next game and like I said I have to make a selection."

Rashford is believed to be available for transfer this month, but the vast cost of such a deal has left his numerous suitors pursuing a loan move. United are thought to be open to a temporary switch.

There is interest from the Premier League, where Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have been named as suitors, but the most significant interest comes from mainland Europe. AC Milan are among the leading candidates and club official Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a former teammate of Rashford's at United, has publicly discussed his side's interest in a deal.

Rashford, however, is thought to be prioritising a move to Barcelona, who were recently tipped to pursue a deal once they have freed up the required salary.
