The Scottish Women’s Premier League current Chair, Mary Galbraith, will depart the organisation this summer following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
She was appointed as the Chair of the SWPL in the summer of 2022 and has played a key role over the last three years in overseeing the transformational growth of the organisation. During that period, the SWPL has established new competitions, a new brand identity, and secured landmark partnerships with Sky Sports and ScottishPower whilst also delivering record revenues, crowds and viewing figures.
SPFL Group Chief Executive and SWPL Board member, Neil Doncaster stated: “The Board of the SWPL would like to thank Mary for her commitment and contribution to the SWPL over the last three years. She has played a pivotal role at an important time in the history of women’s football in Scotland. Mary leaves the SWPL with our sincere thanks and we wish her well in her other endeavours.”
SWPL Chair, Mary Galbraith said: “It has been a privilege to lead the SWPL during its formative years. We have achieved significant growth and established strong foundations which will serve the SWPL for years to come. I feel that now is the right time to hand over the reins as the organisation enters the next phase in its development.”
The process to recruit a new Chair will begin immediately and details of the role and candidate profile can be found at – https://swpl.uk/news/independent-non-executive-chair-candidate-brief/
