Cesc Fabregas and Como picked up a crucial three points at home to Lecce in Serie A on Monday evening, as goals from Nico Paz and Patrick Cutrone helped the league newcomers lift themselves above their opponents into 15th place in the league standings.
Both coaches named relatively settled sides for the Monday evening meeting, two apiece all told, as Cutrone returned to the hosts’ line-up in place of the experienced Andrea Belotti.
A closely-fought first half saw the two teams head in for the break level at 0-0.
It would take just three minutes of the second half for the deadlock to be broken, though.
Cutrone, who had picked up the ball on the left corner of the penalty area, laid it off for Nico Paz, who could have attempted a one-two, but decided to shoot first time from the edge of the bos instead, squeezing the ball past Wladimiro Falcone and into the bottom corner.
Cutrone would go on to claim one for himself half an hour later.
Paz and Strefezza were involved in the build-up, before an overlapping Ignacio Van Der Brempt tried a shot from a tight angle on the right of the area. His effort was saved by Falcone, but the ‘keeper spilled, which allowed Cutrone to stab home from the six-yard box for 2-0.

Monday’s result pushes Como above Lecce and into 15th place in the Serie A table.
Fabregas’s side face a challenging run of fixtures next, as they will travel to Rome to face Lazio on January 10, before hosting Milan on January 14.
Lecce, meanwhile, will host Genoa next, before facing Empoli away from home on January 11.
