Serie A line-ups: Milan vs. Roma

Theo Hernandez returns to the Milan starting XI with Alvaro Morata and Alex Jimenez in a more advanced role, as Roma look to Paulo Dybala and Artem Dovbyk.

It kicks off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, also known as San Siro, at 19.45 GMT.

It has been a rough campaign for both sides, as while Paulo Fonseca remains under fire, Claudio Ranieri is already the third coach of the season on the Giallorossi bench.

Fonseca dropped Theo Hernandez for two games in a row, but they cleared the air and the France international returns, instead moving the impressive Alex Jimenez into a more advanced role to stand in for not fully fit Rafael Leao.

It’s a long absentee list for the Rossoneri, including Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor and Alessandro Florenzi.

Milan have to keep an eye on those fitness problems, as they start 2025 with the Supercoppa Italiana in Riyadh against Juventus on January 3, so Roma-owned Tammy Abraham is on the bench.

Roma boosted their confidence with a 5-0 hammering of Parma, but are desperately seeking some consistency now to climb back up the table.

Bryan Cristante is the only remaining injury absentee, but we see Alexis Saelemaekers start against his parent club, having moved as part of the exchange of loans with Abraham.

Dovbyk has shaken off flu symptoms and starts alongside Dybala, who is being heavily linked with a potential January transfer to Galatasaray.

Mats Hummels is again in the centre of defence, with Leandro Paredes and Manu Koné for the midfield.
