The Blades are striving to add another centre-back to their ranks.
Sheffield United are reportedly set to firm up their interest in Millwall's Japhet Tanganga by submitting an official bid for the centre-back.
That is according to a report by The Star, who claim that the Blades are targeting the former Tottenham Hotspur man after cooling their interest in QPR's Jimmy Dunne.
The South Yorkshire side set a deadline for Dunne, which has now passed, meaning they are targeting Tanganga in a bid to secure a centre-back before tonight's 11pm deadline.
Sheffield United have been pursuing a centre-back this window since Harry Souttar's loan deal at Bramall Lane was cut short by a season-ending Achilles tendon injury.
The Blades possess Anel Ahmedhodzic and captain Jack Robinson in the hub of their back line but are short of natural options in the position.
Wilder's side had been pursuing a deal for Dunne, who has impressed for the Hoops, but were put off by the £3m valuation of the player.
This figure was deemed too steep for the South Yorkshire outfit, considering the 27-year-old's contract is set to expire in the summer.
Now Sheffield United have moved on to Tanganga, who the club had identified as a potential target earlier in the window, and will cement their interest with a bid.
Like Dunne, Tanganga has been instrumental to his club's success and has played every single minute of the club's Championship campaign when he has been available.
Wilder has been backed this window as he sets out to make the finishing touches on a squad who are challenging for the automatic promotion positions.
The Blades have already brought in the likes of Ben Brereton Diaz and Tom Cannon in the forward positions and are hell-bent on securing a centre-back.
A centre-half feels like the last acquisition necessary for the club to boost their promotion ambitions and Tanganga could be the last piece of the jigsaw.
His all-round defending statistics make for positive reading, with the 25-year-old scoring in the top 88 percentile or higher in the Championship for clearances, aerial duels won and interceptions.
Tanganga has demonstrated his best form since leaving Spurs and a move to Bramall Lane should appeal to the centre-back, who will want a return to the Premier League.
Wilder has been striving for defensive reinforcements this window and it looks like their hunt will go down to the wire with a bid for Millwall's Tanganga.
