The North London Derby is always an emotional affair, but this time, the result left a bitter taste for Tottenham supporters.

Despite taking an early lead, Spurs faltered, leaving many questioning the team’s mentality and approach.

Son’s post-match comments highlighted both his frustration and his resolve to turn things around. With the team now hovering in the lower half of the table, it’s clear that action is needed.

Tottenham faced Arsenal in a high-stakes North London Derby but fell to a 2-1 defeat despite Son Heung-Min opening the scoring in the 25th minute.

A deflected goal gave Spurs the lead, but their advantage didn’t last long. An unfortunate own goal by Dominic Solanke and a well-taken strike by Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard sealed the game for the Gunners just before half-time.

The result left Spurs sitting 13th in the Premier League table, with a worrying tally of 11 defeats in 21 matches.

Speaking after the match, manager Ange Postecoglou described his team’s first-half performance as 'too passive,' a sentiment echoed by Son in his interview with SPURSPLAY.

"The manager spoke to us as well (at half time). I think we were way too passive, which we never play like this."

"That’s why it’s frustrating more. You just realise why, especially when you go ahead away from home, you have to practice these results. It’s really frustrating. What can I say? It’s just a very, very painful night," said Son.

Son’s call for accountability

As captain, Son Heung-Min used the opportunity to call for greater accountability from his teammates, regardless of their age or experience.

"I’ve been here nearly 10 years and I’ve never been in this position, I really feel it and take responsibility.

"We have to make sure everyone is ready for the weekend, try to get the win, take confidence (from that) and bring the winning ways back, which is very important at the moment," he added.

Son also emphasised the importance of building confidence through wins, starting with their next fixture against Everton.

Tottenham’s supporters will be hoping their captain’s words translate into action on the pitch, as the team looks to rediscover its winning ways and salvage their season.
