Six months after arriving at Stade Rennais on a €10 million deal from Leeds United, Glen Kamara (29) could be on the move again, according to a report from L’Équipe. The French outlet writes that Premier League sides Southampton FC and Ipswich Town are both tracking the midfielder.
However, they face competition from Championship side Middlesbrough and Turkish team Trabzonspor who have both been more active in trying to secure the Finnish international. Rennes want a straightforward transfer for the player as they are about to hit their limit on loans.
Kamara has had a disappointing time in France since joining Rennes in the summer. The midfielder has only made 13 appearances and was one of the players to be axed from Jorge Sampaoli’s training squad following the disappointing Coupe de France exit to Ligue 2 side ESTAC Troyes.
Rennes are hoping to swiftly turn around a troubling season. The club are currently sat in 14th place in the league but are level on points with AS Saint-Étienne who occupy the relegation playoff spot.
