Southampton's younger number one alternative Gavin Bazunu is on track to play for his national side in the coming days.
Summer season is around the corner which implies the arrival of international action in football terms. Sadly, we don't have the Euros and Copa America this year unlike the last time around.
Nonetheless, there are still the Nations League fixtures that are sure to satisfy every football fan's appetite. Keeping these fast approaching matchups in mind, every participating team is swiftly lining up their entrusted rosters nowadays.
Recently, the Republic of Ireland has also followed suit by including two familiar Southampton faces in the process. The former is Will Smallbone whose domestic campaign has been a rather stop-and-start one in Saints colors.
The latter is loaned out shot-stopper Gavin Bazunu whose ecstasy knows no bounds at the moment.
Honestly, it's understandable given Bazunu underwent a lengthy recovery routine to receive the playing green light in the first place. If that wasn't enough, an exhausting adaptation test awaited him at his new home ground.
Eventually, the 23-year-old turned fan opinions in his favor and is now reaping the rewards for those efforts.
It goes without saying that every Saint is proud of Bazunu's rejuvenating confidence. The reason being that moments like these act as a benchmark for every player's self assessment.
Otherwise, a lack of justified acknowledgement can prompt a change of scenery more frequently.
Now that Bazunu has been granted a Nations League berth, he must grab the opportunity with both hands. Notably, Bulgaria are the two-legged rivals for the knockout tie and any clean-sheet accolades will only serve to increase Bazunu's significance in senior level football.
That being said, let's support him in those matches and remain optimistic that he will form a lasting impression among the Saints as well as his compatriots there.
