Once their go-to striker, Cameron Archer has started a mere 2 games for Southampton in the last 3 months. Positively, still, the forward believes he can plot a redemption against Liverpool.
If you could use a time machine to avoid a fallacy, what mistaken belief would you prevent? For me, it will be not to get swayed by Southampton forward Cameron Archer's October form.
Now, if you watched that version of the 23-year-old, you would surely relate to this.
Having scored in back-to-back games that month, Archer sold dreams to Southampton fans. But sad to say, that time didn't age well.
Fast forward to now, Archer has been a once-in-a-moon starter for Juric's Southampton side. Though the forward was reported marking comeback steps, in reality, little has improved for him.
Just tell me, what do you think might help Archer in his situation? Now, an obvious reply can be that he needs to pick up everything from where he slipped.
Notably, the ex-Aston Villa man's last goal dates back to December in the Carabao Cup game against Liverpool.
But, hey, the upcoming game is against the Reds too, is this going to be the comeback game for Archer? Well, at least chances are.
This is because recently, Cameron was seen speaking on how he views upgrading his playstyle and flourishing under Juric.
In particular, the 23-year-old emphasized his underutilized movement and positioning that has cost him recently. As quoted by the Daily Echo, Archer said: "I'm just not moving too much as a striker, which is not something that I'm used to. But these are the details I can add to my game and try and become a better footballer."
Still, even at his current level, Cameron Archer can be pivotal against Liverpool. Known for his precision, arguably he is the best in attacking limited opportunities for Southampton.
But, still, the doubt remains whether he would start at Anfield. Let's hope he does because if there's a winning pathway for the Saints tonight, it looks passing only through Archer.
