The Spanish Football Federation have on Sunday provided an update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.

This comes after the explosive winger suffered a fitness setback in the country’s latest outing.

Spain locked horns with Denmark in a Nations League clash on Saturday, with Lamine having been afforded a starting berth from his customary berth on the right flank.

En route to an eventual 1-0 La Roja triumph, however, the 17-year-old was subjected to a number of heavy challenges on the part of the Danish XI.

Lamine, in turn, was spotted limping heavily on his exit from the Estadio Nueva Condomina.

Panic, as a result, quickly spread back in Barcelona, amid concerns that Hansi Flick and his coaching staff could be forced to make do without the club’s wing wizard over the weeks ahead.

Such fears, however, have this afternoon been eased.

As per a statement on the part of the RFEF, whilst Lamine will miss Spain’s upcoming meeting with Serbia, the youngster is suffering only with muscular ‘overload’:

‘Lamine Yamal underwent an MRI this morning in Madrid to assess the discomfort he reported after the match against Denmark.

The tests have not detected a structural injury and the RFEF medical services confirm that it is an overload.’
