Sunday results breed optimism for Aston Villa for May Premier League fixtures

Following Saturday's FA Cup exit, Aston Villa supporters needed something of a bright side from the weekend. Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth's draw offered a couple of points that can offer a sliver of hope for the remaining matches.
While the Cherries are a distance off with 50 points, with four matches remaining, it helps not having another team positioned to potentially jump sides in the standings. More relevantly, Evanilson received a straight red card for what was deemed a dangerous tackle.
Considering the nature of how the Brazilian slipped into the challenge on Noussair Mazraoui, that may be rescinded. If not, then a three-match ban is in place, and the forward will miss the fixture against AVFC. Without his attacking presence, one of the more dangerous options of this side would be a significant missing piece that Villa would not need to worry about.
The best part of the Sunday game was the Man Utd aspect. Ruben Amorim's side is who Unai Emery's men will face for the last Premier League contest of the season. Even with a man advantage for 20+ minutes, they only just were able to steal a point at the Vitality Stadium.
As things stand right now, Villa will need to end the season on a winning streak and will need others ahead of them to drop points. If, however, they can be in a position to only need three points at the end, Sunday's ManU-Bournemouth game should show that getting a win at Old Trafford will be highly doable.
This is not to get too far ahead. After all, AVFC will first play Fulham on Saturday. Considering what transpired in the discussed Prem matchup and how events from there could directly impact Villa during the May portion of the campaign, it's appropriate to mention some of the ramifications from Sunday.
A red card that keeps one of the more dangerous attacking players and a side that doesn't look too promising unless they face a team that is down a man is something of an encouraging sign. The final weeks could give Aston Villa the ideal matchups they need in order to reach their Champions League qualification goal.
