Ange Postecoglou said Richarlison, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven are ‘all tracking really well’ with returns targeted for the ‘next seven to 10 days’.
Cuti and Micky have featured in two matches each in our last 26 matches in all competitions, Dom has been sidelined since mid-January while Richy had to be withdrawn early against Liverpool on 6 February.
Ange is pleased with their progress and, speaking ahead of training on Tuesday morning, told us: “They are all tracking really well, all similar times, hopefully in the next seven to 10 days. A couple of them are already training but, over that period, we’ll start incorporating them back into matchday squads.”
Asked if he was targeting the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, first leg against AZ Alkmaar on 6 March, Ange said: “Yes, potentially. I’m not sure if they’ll participate in that, but the idea is that at least a couple of them should be back in training and available for that game. Obviously, we have to back that up on the weekend (after) against Bournemouth (9 March), so, with two games, I’m hoping if we can get a couple more back, it means again we can tackle those two games with a strong squad.”
Meanwhile, in terms of another big clash against Manchester City in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening (7.30pm UK), Ange reported that the players came through unscathed in our 4-1 win at Ipswich Town on Saturday, and he expects a ‘similar squad’ to be available to face City.
