Pep Guardiola provided an update on three of his Manchester City player’s recovery from injury yesterday. Ederson, Rodri and Erling Haaland were the three players the City manager gave an update on. Based on Guardiola’s update, Ederson was the only player who has a chance of playing against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley tomorrow. His availability remains unknown at this stage.
Today, news has emerged that Erling Haaland and Rodri have trained with their teammates today. While it isn’t expected that either player will feature at Wembley tomorrow it does appear that the pair are closing in on a return to the Manchester City squad.
CityXtra has reported that Rodri trained yesterday with his teammates. Today they have also relayed a report from Manchester City insider ‘FPL Maine Road‘ via X that Haaland and Rodri have trained with their teammates today ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup semi-final. That is massive news for Manchester City. The pair’s importance to Pep Guardiola’s side is well-established. If they could return to play a part in Manchester City’s chase to secure Champions League football for next season that’d be massive for City.
Of the pair, you’d expect Haaland to feature more prominently than Rodri. Haaland has only been out since City’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth. Rodri, on the other hand, has been out since September. The ACL injury he sustained is a serious injury and he’ll need time to find his form, fitness and touch.
But is fantastic news for Manchester City that Rodri and Erling Haaland are both training again. Their returns from injury could come over the next couple of weeks. That is welcome news considering how bad a run Pep Guardiola’s side has had with injury this season.
