Manchester United are reportedly in the race for the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah as he’s announced he’s leaving this summer.
The experienced Germany international is close to becoming a free agent, and it seems his club are aware that he won’t be signing a new contract.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who quote Tah as saying Leverkusen know about his decision, whilst adding that Man Utd have positioned themselves as one of the 29-year-old’s potential suitors.
Tah looks like an exciting opportunity on the market, and the Red Devils could do well to snap him up in this low-cost and low-risk deal.
Sky Sports also link Tah with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, so it surely won’t be easy for United to win the race for his signature.

Still, MUFC do now have one foot in the Europa League final after taking control of their semi-final tie, beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the first leg last night.
Winning the Europa League would seal United’s qualification for the Champions League, enabling them to land some players they might otherwise have struggled to attract.
“To be honest, I don’t have a timeframe. But the club knows about it. And it’s been the same as it has been all along,” Tah is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
It seems pretty clear now that there’s no going back for him at Leverkusen, so it makes sense that interest in him is growing.
United would certainly do well to swoop for Tah on a free, with Ruben Amorim playing three at the back so likely needing more depth in that position for next season.
