Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Liverpool. The 26-year-old right-back has decided his future lies elsewhere and looks set to join Real Madrid. Whether it will be on a free transfer or for a small fee is yet to be decided.
Either way, Madrid’s players are going to benefit from Trent’s range of creativity and playmaking from right back - something Liverpool head coach Arne Slot will have to work hard to get by without.
Alexander-Arnold has been an assist machine for the Reds over the last decade or so, providing 92 in 353 games. That’s an assist roughly every four games of his Liverpool career - an astonishing rate for a defender.
Whether it’s a free-kick, a corner or a cross, Trent has been on hand to provide that creative spark over the course of the Reds’ recent successes.
But which of the current Liverpool players are going to miss Trent the most?
We’ve used Transfermarkt data to find out which players Trent has assisted most frequently. As you might expect, Mohamed Salah comes out on top (13) - largely due to the huge number of games they’ve played together since 2017.
But we also figured out which players benefit the most from creativity on a per-game basis. That changes the picture quite a bit.
Trent and Jota have played 144 matches together for Liverpool with the full-back making 10 assists for his centre forward.
The Portugal frontman hasn’t been as prolific in recent months and the last time they combined for a goal was on the 24th matchday of the 2023/24 season.

It’s a shame to see this partnership cut short because Gakpo gets on the end of plenty of Trent deliveries. Most recently, the Dutchman scored from a Trent assist against Ipswich in January.

The goal-shy Uruguayan has been assisted five times across 105 matches together with Trent. It was Alexander-Arnold who helped spark Darwin’s best moment of the season - an assist for his first against Brentford on a day which tilted the title race in Liverpool’s favour.

Trent has given Salah more assists than any other Liverpool player - 13 in total - and has repaid Trent with six of his own. They have played 318 games together down throughout the years.
This season Trent helped turn the game around against Newcastle away with two assists for the Egyptian King.

There is a big gap between the Salah and Diaz positions on this list with Diaz benefitting from only three Alexander-Arnold assists in 112 outings.
