The contract talks between Milan and Theo Hernandez have reportedly cooled down over the past few months, reveals Calciomercato.

The Frenchman has been a stalwart for the Rossoneri over the past few years, establishing himself as one of the finest left-backs in Europe.

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old has been enduring a tough start to the season, as illustrated by his most recent showing against Fiorentina.

Theo had a torrid birthday in Florence, as he gave away a penalty kick for a foul on Dodo, then failed to convert from the spot against David De Gea. His evening ended with a defeat and a red card for dissent.

The full-back’s demeanor after the final whistle will cost him a two-match ban, and will also stimulate a fine from the club.

In the meantime, the situation has been stagnant on the renewal front. Theo’s deal is valid until June 2026, and he currently earns €4.5 million per season.

However, the player’s agent argues that his client deserves a yearly salary of €8M as demonstrated by the offers worth €80-90 million received last summer from the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

At the moment, the Frenchman’s entourage is waiting for a call from Milan to resume the negotiations that have been put on ice over the last four or five months.

Otherwise, the Rossoneri could risk losing their leverage over the situation, especially with the contract’s deadline not too far away. Moreover, the left-back could be tempted by other options, as he remains hungry for glory, while silverware has been scarce at Milan over the past 15 years or so.
