André Silva: Thank you. The coach and the club both showed a lot of interest in me, which was the most important thing for me. The way in which the team play is also a good fit for me.

WERDER.DE: Three years ago, you were playing against Werder with Leipzig. What do you already know about our club?

André Silva: I know that Werder are one of the most highly respected clubs in Germany. I'm also very familiar with their style of play after having faced them in the past. Whenever I watched their games on TV, I could see the energy that the players were showcasing on the pitch, which really interested me.

WERDER.DE: Most fans will surely be familiar with you from your time in Leipzig and Frankfurt. How would you describe yourself as a player?

André Silva: I would say that I'm a tenacious player who really wants to work hard and improve at every opportunity. I'm very focused on helping out my team and can create space for my teammates. I know that I can read the game very well and know that I'm a strong finisher as well, including with my head.

WERDER.DE: Your time in Frankfurt in particular showed just how strong you can be in front of goal. What do you need in order to get to that level?

André Silva: Football can be an easy game or a tough game, depending on the moment. There are many factors that are important in determining how well a team can play. Details can be the difference between being able to achieve your goals in the end. Back then, my teammates always looked to find me whenever possible. The key thing was that everyone felt at ease.

WERDER.DE: Werder will be your third club in Germany. What do you like best about German football?

André Silva: There's always a great atmosphere in the stadiums. On top of that, every opponent is able to play well with the ball at their feet. You have to be variable in every game in order to win it, which is what I like the best.

WERDER.DE: You've featured in 53 games for Portugal so far, 32 of which have been together with Cristiano Ronaldo. What have you been able to learn from him?

André Silva: He was my role model growing up and I was able to learn a lot from him. I can remember how hard he worked and how he was always hungry for more. He's also a great finisher, in addition to his other qualities.

WERDER.DE: You're starting a new chapter now in Bremen. What goals have you set for the next few months?

André Silva: First, I need to familiarise myself with the team and their routines. I need to learn where I can fit in within the team. I'm here to help out and to have fun playing. I will give my best every day, work hard and try to score goals.

WERDER.DE: We'd be amiss if we didn't take the time to ask you, what the secret was behind managing to win the DFB-Pokal twice in a row with Leipzig?

André Silva: Yes, we managed to do that. One key thing is to approach every game as if it's the final and to know that every mistake you make could prove costly. You always have to be focused on everything that you do.

WERDER.DE: Thanks for your time and all the best for a successful start to life in Bremen!
