For one final time this La Liga season, Real Madrid will hit the road and travel for an away game in Spain. It is, however, one of the more difficult stadiums that they tumble upon.

Los Blancos will take on Sevilla later tonight at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan although one must note that Los Nervionenses are not quite as fierce as they have been in recent seasons.

Sevilla languish in 13th place on the standings, have no hope of making it to Europe and have just 10 wins in 36 league matches.

They did win their last game in the competition but were winless in the last eight games before that including six defeats.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, enter the game with over half the squad injured and will thus be seriously tested for their squad depth once more.

Madrid Universal brings you three talking points ahead of Sevilla vs Real Madrid.

Playing for pride

Real Madrid’s win over Mallorca midweek was not enough to keep them in the title race, for they lost the plot in the outing before that which was against Barcelona.

The defeat in El Clasico increased the gap between the top two placed teams to an extent that simply was unreachable, and Barcelona’s win against Espoanyol was enough to proclaim them as champions.

The match today, thus, is close to immaterial for Real Madrid as they can no longer win the league and they already have their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League confirmed.

What Los Blancos will look to do is play for their pride and defend it with all they have got. The 2024-25 season has not been an easy one for the Merengues as they fell short in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and very prematurely in the UEFA Champions League.

As they approach a whole new project, they will look to close the current campaign on a high and salvage their name.

A second consecutive start for Jacobo?

Real Madrid were in neck-deep water in their last outing for the depth in their central defence was tested to the limits.

Aurelien Tchouameni’s suspension left the management with Raul Asencio as the only available first-team defender and the coach paired with with Jacobo Ramon on the night with no other option available.

The Castilla star had ensured a rough time in his limited opportunities with the first team until that point but stepped up against Mallorca and even went on to score the last-gasp winner.

Tchouameni is back for this game, but Asencio will be unable to start owing to an overload. In such a case, Jacobo may well get a second straight start to impress.

The coach, in that case, may opt to deploy Tchouameni and Jacobo at the back given that the game does not really matter.

Chance for Endrick to impress

With it being Real Madrid’s penultimate game of the season and Carlo Ancelotti’s final away game as the Real Madrid manager, the coach can finally look to award minutes to players who have not had a major role in the season.

After all, Real Madrid’s campaign is not close to done for they must still play the FIFA Club World Cup and it is in the club’s best interest to have key players rested for the event.

Endrick and Arda Guler were the two primary names who did not have much prominence under Ancelotti. The latter’s situation has changed in recent weeks but the former remains a fringe player.

This game, thus, could be a massive one for the Brazilian striker, especially with Vinicius Jr out injured.

Endrick may well start for Real Madrid against Sevilla and will thus look to leave a lasting impression. After all, the new manager Xabi Alonso will undoubtedly have his eyes on the game.

The teenage sensation has impressed in his few minutes and appearances off the bench, but with the competition for a starting spot in attack now cutthroat, he must up his game and prove that he deserves a regular run in under the new management.

It will be a massive game for Endrick.
