Good news for Spurs ahead of a possible Europa League final

The Premier League have confirmed Tottenham’s fixture away at Aston Villa has been moved to allow Spurs extra time to prepare for the Europa League final if they get there.

The club requested the game be brought forward to help their chances of possible success in Europe and, despite opposition from Villa, the game has now been moved to a 7.30pm kick-off on Friday, May 16.

That means Spurs and Manchester United will have the same preparation time before the Europa League final, should both clubs finish in the job in their semi-final second legs this week.

Spurs are in control of their Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt after a 3-1 win in the first leg last week

United play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on that Friday, in a game moved from the Sunday so it does not clash with the Women’s FA Cup final between United and Chelsea.

Spurs are 3-1 up from the first leg of their semi-final against Bodo/Glimt ahead of the return leg in the Arctic Circle on Thursday, while United are 3-0 up from their first leg against Athletic Bilbao.

A Spurs statement said: “We can now confirm that our Premier League fixture away to Aston Villa will take place on Friday 16 May, kicking-off at 7.30pm (UK).
