Tottenham’s transfer window continues to develop, with multiple moves still in play as the deadline approaches.
Dane Scarlett is now expected to remain at Spurs following his impactful Europa League performances, while another academy talent is reportedly close to securing a loan move.
Meanwhile, Spurs’ young squad shone in the recent clash against Elfsborg, sealing their spot in the Europa League’s last 16.
Despite these ongoing developments, Tottenham appear to have suffered a setback in their striker search, as a highly-rated forward now seems destined for a move elsewhere.

Tottenham had been exploring options to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes, and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson was one of the names linked with a move to North London.
However, recent reports indicate that Spurs have fallen behind in the race for the young striker.
Sky Sports reporter Marc McAdam has revealed that Bayer Leverkusen are now in pole position to sign Ferguson.
While Premier League clubs have been monitoring the situation, Xabi Alonso’s side have opened direct negotiations with the player’s representatives, putting them in control of the deal.
Tottenham were already facing challenges in their pursuit of Ferguson, with suggestions that the Irishman was hesitant about a move to N17 due to concerns over game time.
Now, with Leverkusen pushing ahead, it seems Spurs have shifted their attention elsewhere.
The club’s focus has reportedly turned to Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, with Tottenham said to have agreed on a significant fee for the French teenager.
Technical director Johan Lange is currently in Germany, attempting to convince Tel to make the switch. As the transfer window nears its close, Spurs now wait for the forward’s decision.
Evan Ferguson is undoubtedly a talented young striker with immense potential, but signing him would be a gamble for Tottenham.
While his physical presence and finishing ability are impressive, Spurs need a proven goal scorer rather than a prospect who still needs development.
Given the club’s ambition under Ange Postecoglou, they must prioritise players who can make an immediate impact.
That’s why shifting their focus to Mathys Tel makes sense, as he is a highly rated forward with experience at Bayern Munich and could provide the attacking guarantees Tottenham need.
