Tottenham Star Is ‘Very Ill-disciplined’ Claims Former Premier League Midfielder | OneFootball

Former Premier League star Craig Burley has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur lacks discipline despite his experience.

Bentancur joined Spurs from Juventus in 2022 and he is currently one of the senior players in Ange Postecoglou’s injury-riddled Tottenham side.

On Sunday, he was part of a Spurs team that suffered a 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup Fourth Round at the hands of Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Tottenham are on a bad run of form and Burley thinks Postecoglou needs his experienced players like Bentancur to show their leadership on the pitch to guide the inexperienced players with their positioning.

However, he stressed that despite the midfielder’s experience, he is an undisciplined player and pointed out that teams like Aston Villa find it easy to take on Spurs as they are an unorganised team.

“For such an experienced player, Bentancur is very ill-disciplined”, Burley said on ESPN FC.

“When you have experience in there and when you have a side that are struggling, you want your more experienced and grounded players, he is an international; he has been around the block; he has been at some really big clubs, just to start pulling people around and say, ‘listen, you sit there and you sit there’, but they are all going off chasing.

“And that is why it is so easy for teams like Villa to pop around them and get Morgan Rogers in and running.”

The 27-year-old midfielder has 95 appearances under his belt for Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether he will step up in the upcoming games to help his team on the pitch with his experience.
