Players like Son always defy the odds - Postecoglou
Tottenham host Bournemouth in the Premier League today at what is a crunch time for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
A 1-0 defeat by AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League in midweek left Spurs with a small mountain to climb to win the last remaining trophy available to them this season, but their crisis of confidence has come at the worst time with the high-flying Cherries making the trip to north London.
Andoni Iraola’s team are seventh, three points off the top five, while Spurs are 13th and a further 10 points off the pace. The hosts suffered another setback on Thursday when Dominic Solanke came off injured, but he is fit to start against his former club today.
Bournemouth lost their last Premier League outing, a 2-1 defeat to Brighton, but will be buoyed by a penalty shootout victory over Wolves in the FA Cup last weekend.
Bournemouth have drawn Manchester City in the quarter-finals, somewhat unfortunately, as they’re the last remaining ‘big six’ club in action.
But Iraola’s men have shown they can hold their own and more against the big guns in the Premier League, and with Pep Guardiola’s side off the boil this season there’s still a strong chance the Cherries could come away with silverware at the end of the season.
With Pep Guardiola’s men the last top six Premier League side standing the FA Cup is wide open this season
