Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly set for a sizeable pay rise once he swaps Liverpool for Real Madrid at the end of the season, but won't be among his new club's highest earners.
Expectations of a departure from Liverpool as a free agent this summer have been growing in recent weeks and the saga is now pretty much at a conclusion following this week's latest updates.
Reports that a deal is in place between Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid emerged on the same day as an awkward video interview. The Reds academy graduate pushed back on the idea of Liverpool captain being one of his career ambitions and reiterated a desire to win the Ballon d'Or.
Liverpool fans have increasingly started to turn on the homegrown player, who stands to leave his boyhood club without them receiving a transfer fee.

The move to Spain, as well as ticking off his personal sporting aspirations, stands to be lucrative. As a free agent for whom no transfer fee is required, Alexander-Arnold himself is set to pocket a signing bonus that Sky Sport Switzerland describes as "equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee".
Earning just under €11m (£9.2m) per season at Liverpool, a five-year Real Madrid contract promises to pay Alexander-Arnold a reported €15m (£12.5m), before tax, as well as "attractive" performance-related bonuses.
It is monstrous, although still falls short of the figures earned by Madrid's biggest stars – in the words of Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast: "A very good salary, but not a crazy salary".
Vinicius Junior's current contract is thought to top €20m per season, with negotiations over a new deal ongoing. Kylian Mbappe pockets a gross amount in excess of €30m each year, with Jude Bellingham again thought to be paid around the €20m mark.
