Unai Emery Uses Bold Two Word Description on Marco Asensio’s Tenure at Aston Villa | OneFootball

Marco Asensio is making a strong impact during his loan at Aston Villa, scoring another brace in their 2-0 FA Cup win over Cardiff City on Friday night.

Villa’s first goal came when Marcus Rashford picked up a ball from Youri Tielemans, flicking it back for Asensio, who drilled a first-time shot into the bottom corner.

The second goal followed when Leon Bailey sent a cross from the right. Ollie Watkins let the ball pass him, and Asensio took advantage, guiding it into the bottom corner.

After the match, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery spoke about Asensio and he used two words to describe how the Paris Saint-Germain loanee is fitting into his side after joining them during the winter transfer window.

“It’s important for the team, it’s important as well for the players individually to get their individual target as well and two goals,” Emery said (h/t BBC). “He’s [Marco Asensio] adapting fantastic, as well [Marcus] Rashford. We will need them for the next matches and the challenges we have.

“We are thinking for the next match. We are in [a] quarter-final, we are happy. We know the difficulties we are going to face but enjoy each moment and today, here with our supporters, we are here performing at home very well and the cup is very important for the club, for the supporters, for ourselves but as well it is a way for a trophy.”

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa decide to keep the player permanently, but regardless, Asensio is creating a market for himself so far in this loan stint, and there could be suitors this summer.
