Fede Valverde scored a stunning long-range goal as Real Madrid secured a crucial 4-2 victory against Sevilla, that saw them climb up to second place in the La Liga table.
Valverde, who had an excellent game against the Andalusian outfit, spoke to RMTV to reflect on the match and the team’s performance.
Talking about his goal, the Uruguayan international reflected: “The goal was a set play that the coaching staff insisted on running, and it worked out well, ending in a goal.”
“At the end, we finished the year with a victory. I always try to shoot from outside the box because it is something I am good at.”
Despite the challenges faced during the first half of the season, Valverde expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance as they closed out 2024.
“We did not have an excellent first half of the season and experienced many ups and downs, but finishing the year this way is very good. This victory should serve as a morale boost for the rest of the season,” he said.

When asked about the demands of playing for a club like Real Madrid, Valverde acknowledged the pressure to perform at the highest level.
“It is difficult to replicate a season like the one we had before. But this club forces you to fight for everything, to be at the top, and to win titles. As players of this club, we must do that,” he explained.
Valverde also praised Kylian Mbappe, who was named the Man of the Match on Sunday, for his professionalism and work ethic.
“We have always seen him give his best. He works and trains to the maximum to be in the best possible shape. One can make mistakes, have bad games or poor plays, but what is important is to face up to it and keep moving forward,” he said.
“He is an example and a leader in the dressing room. He is one of the best players in the world, and we need to give him the support he deserves,” Valverde added.
