An unexpected partnership of Napoli and Sunderland supporters celebrated together in London after the Partenopei claimed their second Serie A title in three years at the Stadio Maradona on Friday night.

Celebrations are underway after Napoli claimed their fourth ever Scudetto with a 2-0 win over Cagliari on Friday night. Inter, who pushed Antonio Conte’s side until the very end, were unable to overtake in their final game, despite a 2-0 win away against Como.

Napoli’s title festivities are not just taking place on home soil. Supporters in London also took to the streets on Friday night to celebrate the unexpected Scudetto.

The London-based Partenopei supporters ran into travelling Sunderland fans, who are in the English capital for their EFL Championship Play-off final against Sheffield United, kicking off at 15.01 on Saturday afternoon.

Chants of “Sunderland, Napoli!” could be heard long into the night in and around Trafalgar Square in what has become an unexpected friendship.
