Sergio Conceicao let his disappointment be known after the Cagliari draw, a journalist has claimed, and he expects a response tonight.
The stage could hardly have been better set for Milan on Saturday night. Lazio and Juventus had dropped points and presented the chance to close the gap, while Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez paraded the first trophy of the Conceicao (and RedBird) era before kick-off.
After a first half that was all bark and no real bite from the Rossoneri – something the coach lambasted after the game – Alvaro Morata’s close-range finish in the 51st minute was a sigh of relief. And yet, four minutes later, the away side found themselves on level terms.
Milan missed numerous big opportunities towards the end of the game to get a win that the stats perhaps suggested that they deserved, and the end result – a 1-1 draw – left a very bitter taste after what was meant to be a celebratory evening.
Antonio Vitiello has published his weekly column for MilanNews and he spoke about the reaction after the 1-1 draw against the Sardinian side at San Siro three days ago.
“It is truly frustrating for Milan not to be able to have continuity of results. Since the beginning of the season, the Rossoneri team has lost a myriad of points along the way, and the last home draw against Cagliari infuriated Sergio Conceição.
“The coach was disappointed by the team’s attitude, especially in the first half, and by the lack of a clinical nature in the penalty area, a congenital defect of the Milan group that was not corrected during the summer transfer window.

“The Portuguese coach made his voice heard in the dressing room because not everyone did on the pitch what he had asked and prepared. Tonight in Como another train passes not to be missed, but it is a phrase that has been pronounced too many times at Milanello and promptly a disappointment has arrived.
“After all, the history of this championship says that the Rossoneri have lost points twice with Cagliari, Genoa, Torino, Lazio, Fiorentina, Juve, Napoli, Roma and so on. But there is no more time to waste, the situation is increasingly complicated and tonight Milan will have to react with anger and intensity to climb a ranking below expectations.”
