Voting for the first Etihad Player of the Month award of the season is now open.

September was a memorable month for Gareth Taylor’s side, who went unbeaten in all four of our fixtures in the WSL and UEFA Women’s Champions League.

A 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium got our league campaign off to a promising start and we followed that up with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Brighton in our most recent outing.

Meanwhile, an 8-0 aggregate victory over two legs against Paris FC saw us progress to the Champions League group stages.

Every member of the squad deserves recognition for that success, but we’ve managed to create a three-player shortlist to make voting a little easier…

Jess Park

The England international picked up where she left off last season with an impressive start to the new campaign.

Park grabbed two goals and an assist in our 5-0 triumph over Paris FC to kickstart 2024/25, with her first in that fixture a particular standout.

Working the ball in from a short corner routine, the midfielder linked up neatly with Mary Fowler and Lauren Hemp before dinking the ball past Chiamaka Nnadozie to double our lead on the night.

But the pick of her strikes in September came later that week at Emirates Stadium when Park sent a stunning half-volley in off the crossbar from distance.

It was a moment of brilliance that sums up her incredible rise in recent months.

Ayaka Yamashita

The Japan international has settled in seamlessly to life in Manchester, keeping two clean sheets in her three appearances so far in blue.

While City were dominant in Paris, Yamashita put in an assured display between the sticks and pulled off a fantastic save to deny Mateo in a one-on-one situation.

It was a similar story against Arsenal three days later with the stopper making several eye-catching saves to help Gareth Taylor’s side come away with a point from our WSL opener.

Her third and final appearance was perhaps her best of the lot, though, against Brighton at the Joie Stadium on her 29th birthday.

Once again, the goalkeeper was central to a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Seagulls, saving well with her feet to prevent Fran Kirby from opening the scoring.

Vivianne Miedema

Securing the signature of the Dutch international this summer was seen as a major coup by City and Miedema’s start to life at the Club backs that up.

Playing in a more withdrawn midfield role, our number six has combined energy and tenacity off the ball with incredible vision and quality on it.

She’s also chipped in with two goals in her three appearances, including our first strike of 2024/25 when rifling home on the volley against Paris FC.

Miedema found the net again in our next game against Arsenal, coming back to haunt her former club in a 2-2 draw.

The Dutch international has had a first month to remember at City, with her added quality and experience a major boost on and off the pitch.

So, who gets your vote?

The competition is now open, so have your say below, with the winner announced next week!
