Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis at Montjuic was not only disappointing in terms of dropped points—it also ended in controversy.
The referee, Gil Manzano, blew the full-time whistle five seconds early, denying Barça a final corner kick. With La Liga on the line, every second matters, and the decision sparked fury on the pitch.
One of the most affected players was Raphinha. The Brazilian winger had already shown signs of frustration during the game due to several questionable calls.
But when Barça were denied that last opportunity, Raphinha exploded. As he left the pitch, he confronted one of the assistant referees, shouting, “You don’t tell me to shut up!” and “You’re rude,” as quoted by SPORT.
His anger was clearly aimed at what he saw as disrespectful and unfair officiating.

But Raphinha, still fuming, shrugged him off and continued his angry march towards the tunnel, muttering words under his breath and visibly upset.
The moment was caught on camera and by fans in the stands and quickly went viral. Some critics outside the Barça circle attempted to stir controversy by suggesting a clash between Raphinha and Ter Stegen.
However, the footage makes it clear—there was no fight between teammates, only shared frustration directed at the officials.
It is understood that Barcelona were left feeling hard done by and with Hansi Flick’s side battling for the La Liga title, every point and every moment count.
Raphinha’s emotional reaction reflects the intensity and desire within the squad. Barça now need to move on quickly, but the message is clear: the players are fighting for every inch, and they won’t stay silent when they feel the officiating is unfair.
