The successful non-league clubs will look to land plum EFL ties as the journey continues
The draw for the second round of the FA Cup proper takes place this weekend as clubs dream of going the distance in football’s oldest competition.
Back in May it was Manchester United who got their hands on the famous trophy for the 13th time in their rich history - placing them second only to Arsenal in the list of winners - after stunning Premier League champions and local rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
As is always the case, they will not begin their defence until the third round along with the rest of the Premier League and Championship representatives, with the first and second rounds reserved solely for the 48 clubs from the third and fourth tiers in addition to the 32 non-league sides that have progressed to this point.
The FA Cup second round draw remains a significant annual event on the English football calendar for clubs up and down the country. Here’s everything you need to know.
The draw for the second round of the 2024/25 Emirates FA Cup takes place on Sunday November 3, 2024 during the BBC's first round highlights show.
Proceedings are due to begin at 6.15pm on BBC Two, although the draw itself isn't expected until around 7.45pm.
