Manchester City will be without their in-form wide attacker Jeremy Doku when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Belgian winger was one of the star performers when Pep Guardiola and his players travelled to Portman Road at the weekend, offering flair and goal threat from the wide roles as part of a convincing 0-6 win on the road.
That showing followed another impressive performance as Doku played an integral role in the brilliant attacking play on show from Pep Guardiola’s side in the 8-0 FA Cup third round win over Salford City the weekend prior.
Following a challenging first-half to the season, there may have been hope within the club that Jeremy Doku was about to kick on and produce an exemplary second-half to the campaign, holding down the left-flank in bigger contests.
However, frustration has seemingly struck once again for the young forward, who has been ruled out of Manchester City’s upcoming contest with little insight on how severe the latest issue is for the player.
As confirmed by the Manchester Evening News’ Simon Bajkowski, Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku is ruled out of the matchday squad for the contest in Paris this week with an injury, picking up an issue during or around the 0-6 win over Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Carson.
Defenders: Rico Lewis, Matheus Nunes, Max Alleyne, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Josko Gvardiol.
Midfielders: Jacob Wright, Nico O’Reilly, Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, Kevin De Bruyne, James McAtee, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden.
Forwards: Jack Grealish, Savinho, Erling Haaland.
Manchester City travel to the Parc des Princes knowing that points need to be put on the board at a very minimum, while the ideal scenario for the club will be two wins from the remaining two matches in the league phase of the competition.
City come into the meeting in France lingering around the very bottom of the last-16 play-off section of the group table, with their opponents in PSG firmly in amongst the group of teams that would be kicked out of the competition if it ended as things stand.
In strange and unknown circumstances for all competing, Real Madrid also find themselves up against it in the final two matches, while Feyenoord, Sporting, and Club Brugge – all of whom have faced or are due to face City – are in and around the bottom section of the table.
