Liverpool have a very good and strong squad and are very likely to win the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s first season in charge of the Anfield outfit.
However, there are likely to be changes to the Liverpool squad in the summer transfer window.
Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold all are out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season.
None of them has signed a new deal with the Reds, and it is very likely that none of them will be at Anfield next season.
The left-back area is another position that Liverpool need to address in the summer transfer window.
Andy Robertson is the number one left-back for Liverpool at the moment, but he has not had the best of seasons.
The Scotland international is also 31 now, and the Merseyside club, who are ready to offload winger Federico Chiesa in the summer transfer window, need to start looking for a young left-back who can eventually replace him in the starting line-up.
Football Insider reported this week that Liverpool are among the clubs that are monitoring Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Ait-Nouri has been at Wolves since 2020 when he initially joined on a loan deal from Angers.
The Algeria international has scored eight goals, given nine assists and kept 10 clean sheets in 126 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
Nottingham Forest scout and former Algeria international striker Cherif Oudjani believes that while a move to Liverpool would see Ait-Nouri make a step-up in his career, the 23-year-old may not get as much playing time as he is getting at Wolves at the moment.
udjani told AfricaFoot about Ait-Nouri to Liverpool rumour: “It is not surprising that the Reds are interested in him. Liverpool will have a busy season in 2025/26, with the Champions League and the three national competitions.
“The workforce, which should not move too much, will be solicited, knowing that there are many internationals, and the coach will turn.
“Rayan Ait-Nouri has been playing in England since 2020, he has played nearly 150 matches in the Premier League and he is young and successful.
“It is no coincidence that he is on Liverpool’s shelves. I think he knows that by signing there, he might not have the same playing time as in Wolverhampton or in a less upscale club than Liverpool, but he would also have the assurance of playing at the highest level.”
If Liverpool come calling for Ait-Nouri, then the Algeria international left-back simply has to go.
Wolves may be a big and established Premier League club, but Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The Reds regularly challenge for the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
True, Ait-Nouri would have to work hard to get into Slot’s starting line-up ahead of Robertson initially, but he should back him to eventually become the number one left-back for the Reds.
