The way the frontline of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal have performed this season has made it very difficult for substitute Barcelona forwards to get game time this season.

Still, Ferran Torres has proved to be a very valuable piece for Hansi Flick, and his performances have been key for the team in this late phase of the season, especially during the time Robert Lewandowski was out with an injury.

Ferran Torres shares a message after his successful surgery

Unfortunately, he will be unable to participate in the remaining three games of the season, as he had to undergo appendicitis surgery yesterday at Barcelona Hospital. The surgery took place under the supervision of Dr Coroleu and Dr Borras.

The surgery has been successful, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the forward took to social media to share the good news with his fans. In this social media post, the Spaniard shared pictures of himself on a hospital bed and wrote the following message:

“Appendicitis overcome!!! Time to support the team from here tonight to become League Champions!”

Barcelona can win La Liga tonight

The forward was referring to the match between Barcelona and Espanyol tonight. A win in this game would see the Blaugranes win the La Liga title, as they are four points ahead of Real Madrid and only two league games are left after this.

Undoubtedly, Torres would have liked to participate in such an important game. In addition to the opportunity of wrapping up the league title, this match is also significant for the Catalans as they will be facing one of their rivals in the city derby.

Hopefully, Hansi Flick and the team will be able to get the job done tonight and return to Ciutat Esportiva with the league trophy. Meanwhile, Ferran Torres will have to wait till he recovers from this unfortunate situation and then get ready to return in the best shape for the upcoming preseason, after enjoying a few highly-deserved holidays.
