El Clásico is upon us, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. FC Barcelona welcome their eternal rivals Real Madrid this weekend in what could be the defining moment of their La Liga campaign. With a slender four-point cushion, Hansi Flick’s side knows that a win at the Montjuic stadium could all but seal the league title and send shockwaves through Spanish football.

Flick’s men would have already started preparing for the game and will know that Los Blancos have had the advantage of more days of rest, which could make this game very difficult.

Irrespective of what happens for Barcelona between now and the end of the season, Hansi Flick has done a brilliant job with the squad at his disposal, but this is just the beginning. The club needs to work in the transfer market to take them to the next level.

Marcus Rashford wants to come

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, 27-year-old Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford has offered himself to Barcelona through his new agent, Pini Zahavi, and is also willing to make financial sacrifice to don the Blaugrana jersye. The Englishman is currently loaned out to Aston Villa, where he has enjoyed a decent spell.

Rashford fell out with Red Devils coach Ruben Amorim, who completely cast him aside from his plans. In January, Unai Emery’s side came calling and the Englishman moved there temporarily, although Villa do have the opportunity to make it permanent, if both parties are willing.

Since his move to Aston Villa, Rashford has made 17 appearances across all competitions (some from the start, some off the bench) during which he has scored 4 goals and provided 6 assists. One must admit that it has worked out.

Do Barcelona need him?

Yes, Barcelona do need a left-winger in the summer to provide cover to Raphinha. The Brazilian has been brilliant so far this season, but can be even more effective through the middle if the Catalan club signs someone else for the left wing.

However, Rashford is not the kind of left-winger that Barcelona need. He is very similar to Ferran Torres, and what Hansi Flick’s team needs is a player who is able to add some unpredictability, just like Lamine Yamal does on the right.

So, does Marcus Rashford to Barcelona make sense? On paper, maybe. In reality? Not quite. While Rashford brings goals and experience, he lacks the flair and unpredictability that Barcelona crave on the flanks.

With a title in sight and bigger dreams ahead, Barcelona must think bold, not safe. And unless Deco has a surprise up his sleeve, this Rashford pitch might be one call that goes unanswered.
