5️⃣ spicy fixtures you must watch this weekend 🌶

Celtic vs Rangers

That an Old Firm grudge match makes it only into fifth position on this list is an indication of what awaits this weekend.

Celtic are closing in on the Scottish Premiership title and a record-equalling 55th championship. Rangers might feel Celtic’s coronation is inevitable, but The Gers will be keen to at least throw a spanner in the works of the runaway champions.

After reaching the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday following a pulsating penalty shootout win over Fenerbahce, Rangers will need to go to the well again to get a result.

Arsenal vs Chelsea

Arsenal and Chelsea have battled for supremacy in London since the turn of the century. Chelsea’s emergence as a billonaire-backed forced threatened Arsenal’s largely unchallenged status as the capital’s top dogs, with a pair of Champions League successes adding weight to Chelseas’s claims as London’s number one.

Now, the two go head-to-head in a crucial game for both clubs. Arsenal are three without a win and another failure to take three points will have the second-placed Gunners looking nervously over their shoulder. A congested chase for Champions League football is in the rear-view mirror with Chelsea sandwiched in the thick of it.

Atalanta vs Inter Milan

Atalanta sent a statement last weekend after thrashing title rivals Juventus 4-0 in Serie A. In search of a maiden Scudetto, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side now face the ultimate acid test.

Defending champions and league leaders Inter arrive in Bergamo, and a win for Atalanta will take them level with the Nerazzurri on points.

This is not one to be missed.

Liverpool vs Newcastle

Liverpool and Newcastle collide in the capital this Sunday as the Carabao Cup final takes place underneath the Wembley arch. The Reds are aiming to make it back-to-back League Cup triumphs and secure the first silverware of the Arne Slot era.

In their path are Newcastle, a side seeking to end a long trophy drought. It’s been 70 years since Newcastle last won a major domestic trophy and Eddie Howe is one game from ending that wait.

There have been some classic contests between these sides throughout the years. Could we see another this weekend with silverware on the line?

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona

La Liga’s title race is engrossing this season and two of the top contenders meet this weekend.

Atletico Madrid are reeling after exiting the Champions League to Real Madrid in midweek, suffering the anguish of a penalty shootout defeat.

Diego Simeone’s side have plenty to play for, however, with the Rojiblancos just a point off top spot in La Liga. Leaders Barcelona head to The Metropolitano on Sunday night in a crunch clash for both team’s ambitions.

Atletico’s Alexander Sorloth has been the bane of Barcelona this season, with decisive stoppage-time goals in both previous meetings.

After securing Champions League progress, Barcelona can take a giant leap towards the title with victory. With Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in their current form, nothing appears impossible.
