Kristjan Asllani will start in holding midfield for Inter Milan in the derby against AC Milan if Hakan Calhanoglu is not ready to.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Albanian would be the favourite ahead of Piotr Zielinski.
The big doubt for Inter ahead of tomorrow’s derby clash with Milan is whether Hakan Calhanoglu can start.
The Turk has not featured for Inter since the Supercoppa Italiana final defeat to the Rossoneri last month.
However, Hakan Calhanoglu is pushing to return tomorrow. He has been back in full training since Thursday and is getting close to being ready.
Calhanoglu will not start tomorrow if there is not full confidence that he can play at least an hour.
Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is also considering other possibilities.

And according to the Corriere, if Calhanoglu doesn’t start, it will be Kristjan Asllani.
Asllani is the main backup for Calhanoglu in the Nerazzurri squad.
Piotr Zielinski has also proven capable of playing in holding midfield for Inter.
But according to the Corriere, Asllani would be the clear favourite ahead of the Pole to start in the position if Calhanoglu cannot.
