Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Antony after the Manchester United winger was taken off on a stretcher against Fenerbahce.

The Brazilian replaced Marcus Rashford in the 73rd minute of Thursday night’s 1-1 Europa League draw in Istanbul, but had to come off himself just 16 minutes later.

The 24-year-old has struggled for game time under Ten Hag so far this season, making just five appearances across all competitions for the struggling Red Devils.

And Ten Hag admitted that he felt sorry for Antony after seeing him carried off the pitch at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, where he was later spotted leaving on crutches.

“It's really unlucky for him," Ten Hag told MUTV. "I feel real compassion for him, when he worked so hard in training.

"His training performances are that good that he deserved to come on. When you have to come off so quickly, that is really sad to see.

“Hopefully, it’s not too bad, we have to wait 24 hours for what the assessment is.”

Ten Hag is dealing with a mounting injury list again at Old Trafford, with Antony the latest in a long line of casualties.

Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans were missing from the 20-man squad in Turkey, joining Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw on the sidelines.

Ten Hag will have his captain Bruno Fernandes available again on Sunday for the Premier League trip to West Ham after he served his one-game suspension in Europe.
