Liverpool manager Arne Slot has urged fans to trust the club's approach to the transfer window as he awaits his first signing of the new year.
The Reds have been quiet in the transfer market since Slot's arrival in the summer. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was signed from, and immediately loaned back to, Valencia as Liverpool prepare for a future without Alisson, while backup winger Federico Chiesa was a late window addition who has not featured much because of injuries.
Liverpool are yet to make a signing this month and have hardly been linked with any new faces, sparking some concern from a fanbase who fear an injury to a star player could derail their push for the Premier League title.
Slot, however, remains confident and assured fans there will be plenty to celebrate in the summer instead.
"Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, we should always be competing for the Champions League," he told Football Focus. "I'm hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level.
"I know people sometimes question this because they haven't seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There's a reason for that - because we're happy with the squad.
"But I do know we're definitely working on strengthening in the summer."
Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi has been tentatively named as a target, while Liverpool are also among the sides linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich on a free transfer. Last summer's primary target, Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, remains on the radar but has been heavily linked with Arsenal.
