But after a recent fan backlash over the way his exit has been handled, the Dutch boss has refused to say whether Trent will get a chance to turn out one last time for the Reds.

"I haven't decided on [if he plays] but this should be a day everyone is going to enjoy, it's been 35 years waiting for this moment as LFC fans and we set the example against Spurs," he told reporters.

"I've not seen a celebration done in a nicer way. One of the two things that made me emotional was when we arrived and the fans were singing and since then, multiple people told me they went to Anfield for so long and they never felt a day more special.

"I am hoping we can add another day to it, the fans, the staff, the players - and one of those is Trent - he deserves to be there as well, he has been a part of this season and some incredible years. I have a lot of faith and trust in my fans we can do this [Spurs] again."

Slot also gave his thoughts on whether Mohamed Salah should win the Ballon d'Or later this year.

"I have a lot [of hopes] for him, he's had very good seasons at Liverpool but this one probably stands out in numbers and we won the league. So that gives him a chance.

"Unfortunately he is not the only great player but if there is ever a chance then it is this season. If not then he will push harder next season.

"Individual performances can improve would be close to impossible for Mo but the elite mentality he has is he is never happy. As a team we can do a bit better. We played for four trophies and 'only' won one. The hardest [to win]."

Liverpool have the chance to end the campaign on 86 points whilst Palace are virtually on the beach having celebrated their FA Cup win this week.
