Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta was on Thursday drawn on the subject of his side’s ongoing transfer links with Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
And the Spaniard did not exactly shut the speculation down in his response…
The name of frontman Rodrygo has of course proven an altogether prominent one in the headlines in north London over recent weeks.
This comes amid mounting claims that, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the final third, Arsenal have earmarked the Brazilian as a leading target.
Rodrygo has seen his future in Madrid thrown firmly up in the air of late, amid the understanding that the 24-year-old is open to a new challenge this summer.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when Rodrygo’s name was put to Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
And the Spaniard, whilst not directly confirming interest in Rodrygo, went on to highlight his side’s need for a player of similar qualities:
“I won’t name any specific player but we have brought the club into a position that next season, you have to win a major trophy. Everybody believes that we are an elite team in this country and in Europe. Arsenal is there. We have to add goals, creativity, and we have to add numbers, and that will be in different positions.”
