Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo equalled an altogether unwanted personal benchmark in the club’s weekend meeting with Athletic Club.

That’s according to statisticians Opta, who have on Monday provided an insight into the details.

The latest edition of the Basque Derby was of course played to completion on Sunday evening.

When all was said and done, the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, owing to a somewhat underwhelming goalless stalemate.

One player, though, who could certainly not have been accused of a lack of effort en route to as much was the aforementioned Take Kubo.

Winger Kubo was by some way Real Sociedad’s most dangerous player over the course of the 90 minutes against Athletic, ultimately rewarded with the Man of the Match prize.

The Japanese, though, could not quite manage to carve out any clear-cut openings for his teammates at Anoeta.

And as alluded above, on Monday, one major reason for as much has been revealed.

As per Opta, Sunday’s outing marked the match in which Kubo was fouled the most times (7) across his 237 appearances in La Liga to date.
