Atletico Madrid are ready to firm up their interest in Manchester United winger Antony, after an impressive loan spell in Spain.

Antony joined Real Betis on loan in the January transfer window after a difficult spell in the Premier League. The Brazilian has been a huge hit with the La Liga outfit, scoring seven times and providing four assists since his mid-season switch.

Antony’s arrival has contributed to an upturn in form for Betis, who are chasing Champions League qualification and Europa Conference League success. He scored a spectacular stoppage-time winner as Betis beat Espanyol in La Liga at the weekend.

Atletico Madrid have been suitably impressed and are ready to firm up their interest with an offer. Diego Simeone has identified Antony as an ideal option to strengthen his attacking options in the summer.

Despite his impressive form on loan, Antony is unlikely to return to Manchester United, who will demand a fee of around £40m for his services.

The 25-year-old struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford following his £82m arrival from Ajax in 2022. He scored just five goals in 62 league appearances for the Red Devils.
