Tommaso Baldanzi was ‘happy’ to see Roma win their first Europa League game of the season against Dynamo Kyiv, although he thinks the Giallorossi could’ve ‘scored more goals’ after Artem Dovbyk’s penalty.

Coach Ivan Juric gave the former Empoli midfielder his third consecutive Europa League start in a tactical set-up that saw him play as a trequartista alongside Nicolò Pisilli, and Baldanzi admitted the duo managed to make the right movements ‘required’ by their coach.

Baldanzi: ‘Happy’ for Roma win, we’re working on ‘mentality’

“I think we did a very good match, we played well,” Baldanzi told Sky Sport Italia after the final whistle, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

“We could’ve scored more goals, killed off the game earlier, in the first or the second half. Anyway, we made it. Today we can be happy because we needed the three points and we took them.

Baldanzi and Pisilli are regarded as two of Roma’s biggest prospects, and their contribution proved decisive against Dynamo Kyiv, as a foul on the former presented Dovbyk with the chance to take a penalty.

“We did well and moved how the coach required, then Artem was excellent from the penalty spot and gave us this joy. We’re happy,” added Baldanzi.

Roma kept their first clean sheet in six matches, and the 21-year-old is sure such an improvement is the result of their work.

“As I said, we could’ve scored earlier, but not conceding in the final minutes, as we did against Athletic Bilbao, also proves that we’re working on our mentality,” concluded the Italy Under-21 international.
