Barcelona consider move for Espanyol defender | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona are giving consideration to tabling a summer offer for a member of the defensive ranks at rivals Espanyol.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Omar El Hilali as the player in the sights of Deco and co.

El Hilali, for his part, is in the midst of a stellar individual campaign.

One of the first names on the team sheet at Stage Front Stadium, the 21-year-old has featured from the off in all but one of Espanyol’s La Liga fixtures in 2024/25.

And, along the way, El Hilali has turned heads across the Spanish football landscape, owing chiefly to his impressive defensive characteristics.

One such club to have had their attentions piqued by such endeavours are the aforementioned Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements at right-back with a view to next season, amid concerns over the lack of depth behind Jules Koundé.

And, as per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Omar is one of the candidates, although not the main one at the moment. Deco wants a young player with projection to mold him at Barça and the profile fits.’
