Barcelona could activate transfer target’s €25m release clause ‘next week’ | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving serious consideration to activating the release clause in the contract of Espanyol star Joan García.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an update on the Blaugrana’s ongoing efforts to land the talented shot-stopper.

It is of course now common knowledge that the Barcelona board are working on Joan’s signing with a view to next season.

Of the opinion that the 24-year-old represents the ideal option between the posts for present and future alike, Deco and co. have entered into negotiations with Joan’s entourage over the terms of a potential deal.

The rivalry between the Catalans and city rivals Espanyol had seen the likelihood of an agreement being found called into serious question.

But if the latest word stemming from the press late this week is anything to go by, as much does not appear to be posing an issue at present.

As per a report from MD, in fact:

‘Although the decision has not yet been finalized, both the player and his entourage greatly appreciate the effort Barça is making to secure his services.’

It is therefore concluded that, in the case of being given the green light over the days ahead:

‘The Catalan club will deposit the €25 million buyout clause next week.’
